AccessGenealogy was established in
1999 to provide access to a vast amount of genealogy
information to the wider internet community.
AccessGenealogy is a premier online listing of genealogy
sources, listing more than 250,000 pages containing
millions of online records. This list of resources is
constantly improving and growing, and every month,
AccessGenealogy teams up with a subscription site to
offer a specialist resource, free of charge for one month
only!
AccessGenealogy is particularly known for it's
comprehensive data on Native-American genealogy. The
site's wide collection of research materials in this
field means that if you are particularly interested in
tracing your family history through a Native-American
line, you'll really benefit from checking out this site.
That's not to say that all the resources on the site are
devoted to Native-American ancestry - we're sure that
everyone will find something useful on AccessGenealogy.
The site has a wide collection of resources - military
records, surname lists, vital records and world genealogy
listings - and all resources can be searched by US state
or region. A quick look through the recently added
records shows a number of unique and unusual research
materials, including the Florida Civil War Database, the
US WWI Veterans list and the Maryland Naturalizations
record.
The site also provides guidance on how best to construct
and expand your family tree and display your research,
methods of DNA testing and where to get tested and much
more! One thing we really loved was the online library of
genealogical books that have been painstakingly scanned
in, page-by-page, and added to the site for every user to
enjoy. We thought that this was a real mark of quality
and not something you expect from a site that doesn't
charge anything for membership or use of it's numerous
online resources.
If AccessGenealogy sounds like the sort of site that
would interest you, we would definitely recommend that
you sign up and start checking out the free materials
that this site has to offer. As with many free sites, we
think that it's unlikely that you'll discover a great
deal of new data (apart from the unique and unusual
records) if you're already a member of a subscription
site. Nevertheless, this site is totally free, so if you
at an impasse with your research, it may be worth
checking it out!
