By entering your email address you can receive a
free newsletter from MyTrees.com allowing you access to
other people's stories, upcoming events and various
genealogical reviews.

by searching the Ancestry Archive Index to determine if
they have potential names of interest.
- Get help with more difficult tasks, such as
digitizing old photos or slides.
- Get help finding living people using the
"connections" service in the Resource Centre.
- Use the Kindred Konnections Online Store to
purchase genealogical products.
- Allow family access to your account so that your
relatives can use the site to aid in your research and
look at your progress.
A basic search to KindredKonnections.com allows you to
search by the following parameters:
- First name
- Last name
- Birth year
- Death year
- Every Name Search
KindredKonnections.com is a site on a
considerably smaller scale than those in our top 5 list.
As much as we think this site does have something to
offer to a certain market, its appearance is a little
off-putting. With a mass of links and menu options
littered around the home page, it can get pretty
difficult to navigate the site, especially if you're new
to online genealogy.
The site does offer access to a range of extracted
international records, including SSDI, Ellis Island
Records, UK, Canadian and New Zealand census records.
These are however extracted records which are not fully
complete and not as comprehensive as the records held on
other sites featuring higher in the top ten, including
Ancestry.com. The 'Every Name Search' offered by
KindredKonnections.com could certainly save some time
when searching listings from your family tree, though we
do think it could present problems when returning a large
number of results (some of which may not be
relevant).
Additionally, KindredKonnections.com does offer a wide
range of links to free resources offered elsewhere on the
Internet, a feature which will certainly prove useful to
those genealogists who may have come to an impasse in
their research and need to open up new potential research
opportunities. One of the resources on
Kindredkonnection.com allows you to search for
professional genealogists around the world and engage
their services to complete various tasks in your
genealogical research. Finally, by entering your email
address you can receive a free newsletter from
MyTrees.com allowing you access to other people's
stories, upcoming events and various genealogical
reviews.
Unfortunately, we don't think this site is
excellent value for money. The family tree software included isn't particularly responsive and
occasionally crashes when adding new individuals to the
tree. Additionally, the software does not allow users to
add further elements to individual listings on the tree -
such as photos, documents, audio and video files - as
supported by other sites in the top ten in this category.
Also, the search facility available on
KindredKonnections.com does not allow the user to search
by many different criteria (the search is limited to a
basic search only). We feel that this search facility
doesn't allow users to get the best out of the records
that are hosted on the site, and is particularly
disappointing.
We firmly believe that when engaging in genealogical
research it is essential to use the best tools and search
facilities. For a few extra dollars, we would certainly
recommend subscribing to one of our higher rated sites,
such as Ancestry.com (our highest rated site in this
category) which opens up a far more extensive set of
genealogical records.
