Based on a new user with none to little experience (even the experienced - once bitten twice shy).
2.I sent a complaint on a raft of issues and the following is all I received (on printing) which did not even address the printing complaint (woffle); "If you find that the image you print from the site is unreadable or the text too small we would suggest that you save the image to your desktop and print it out directly from your PC.
On the image viewing screen instead of clicking 'print', please select the 'download' option. Your file will save as a JPEG. You can then open it up and print it offline." Even this is bad showing that the site does not function properly.
3. Printing is atrocious.
a. Does not print the whole of what is displayed on the screen.
b. Only prints very small sections of a tree. It cannot be condensed so when printed off its 'cut and paste'.
4. It appears that other than the basic records that are open to all sites (INCLUDING THE FREE SITES)are more or less all you will get. You are encouraged by Genes Reunited to steal from other family trees (request access). This shows that its not the site that supplies the information its the hard work and expense of others, that's IF they give you access.
5. Birth, Marriages and Deaths are plentiful, better presented and more numerous on free sites, just have to search until you find them.
6. Display page does not link people properly. My experience for example, A divorcee who has remarried with other children does not separate the spouses (all remain confusingly linked) which then confuses the who the offspring belong to. If there is a way then its hard and should be done automatically anyway.
7. Caution when paying extra for Military or other access. For example I have put in correct information from my father's army documents hoping to enhance the information (WWII). Can't even get his name to appear never mind about enhanced information???
8. Genes reunited say 'Plus much More' - Not a Lot?
9. My complaintS have not been answered and those that were associatively answered were as 1. above in respect of 2. above.
10. My overall perception - SCAM.
11. This review does not allow be to select NO stars, as appropriate, so my review is overrated.
In summary, I would not recommend Genes Reunited to a friend.
