Very Satifsfied

I joined this site in 2013 with only basic family information. I have both my husband and my families in one large group right, almost 24,000, as I find it easier than switching between two different trees. I have not used any other system so have no comparisons but would never switch since I find everything I want on this site. The research and smart records are invaluable and since I bought into that portion I have been able to add info to almost anyone I research. I love the easy extraction from record matches to my tree. I also love the charts and reports that can be made in minutes. I do find working with the tree online to be tedious but at some point will be breaking down into smaller trees.

In summary, I would recommend My Heritage to a friend.

Very patient and helpful support group

I had a very special demand from the card-game production application, and thanks the help of support group We made it.

Being Jewish, I like very much the ability to translate easily dates fro Jewish calendar to Gregorian and back.

I still miss, for reasons strange to me, the ability to send remiders to events according their Jewish date, and include in them dates of death.

Keep up the good work

5 years and still going

I started with MyHeritage in 2009. It was easy to join and set up my family tree. When I had some technical issues, the people there were very helpful.

I now have a tree with over 6000 people, and over 200 members. My members can all upload photos, documents, videos and audios. They can write to me on the software, and write to one another as well. They can invite other family members to the tree. However, I decide who can have management of the tree (who can actually add people into the tree) - I have two other of my members to whom I have given this ability. I can withdraw this control whenever I wish. I like that.

MyHeritage was cheaper than Ancestry.com which was the main reason I first chose them. Their overall appearance is also more attractive and colorful. They have improved their functionality over these last 5 years.

One of the features that I loved the most was the ability to get a complete description of someone's relationship to anyone else in the tree. I found out that I was 21 steps removed from Pocahontas, and 12... (Read the full review)

Excellent for entering and updating genealogic data

I started to use My Heritage and their Family Tree Builder just this year, having transferred my GEDCOM data from another, older program. MyHeritage's web access makes it easy for other members of my family to gain access and update their entries and that makes things much more efficient. The FTBuilder also allows entry of foreign names (particularly Hebrew) and information that other programs did not. The Smart Matches have been very helpful and sometimes surprising in their results. I did have some issues with Log In between FTB and the My Heritage website, but the support team has been helpful. On the "downside": There are some unexpected expenses as you go through the system: if you want to access some of the genealogical data that the program directs you to, it appears that you have to pay a $10/mo fee, and that seems to me to be excessive. The backup service is also fairly expensive and that's after you've paid for the full version. Still, this is a robust genealogy program and its web based format is making it possible for me to maximize the contributions and cooperation of family members to build a real family tree for us.

In summary, I would recommend My Heritage to a friend.

My Heritage Support

I have been a My Heritage User for several years.

In using My Heritage I have been able to construct a marvelous record of my extended family.

Particular features I particularly like in the programme are the ease of adding multi-media files, the system provided reports and the Smart matching programme.

Recently I experienced a problem with synchronising the database with my Web Site. I tried to solve this myself but unfortunately it was beyond me.

So I logged a Call for help and I was absolutely delighted at the response from the Help Desk. Not only was this prompt, but the staff member I dealt with understood my problem and got right to the issue straight away. After a couple of Emails the problem was solved and I was back to a happy User.

To me one of the real pluses is having a good help Desk to support applications such as My Heritage and in my case this was certainly demonstrated. Well done.

Superior humane quality of technical assistance

When it comes to IT, I am an illiterate.

I have great difficulty in manipulating data and following instructions in part because I am old,in part because I never received proper training and finally because I have little aptitude for venturing into and handling technical websites.

Because of all these shortcomings it took me a long time to convince myself to establish an electronic family tree and carry out electronic genealogical research .

It so happens that it was my good fortune to come across and to choose, by pure luck, MyHeritage as my genealogical service provider. And they turned out to be a godsend.

I cannot say enough to praise the prompt and superior humane quality of the technical assistance I received from them not only to set me up but to keep me going whenever ignorance or lack of skills became obstacles to the advancement of my project.

I am most grateful to them and so are the family members, both young and old, who are counting on me to carry on with the project and do it right.

In summary, I would recommend My Heritage to a friend.

Stepmother/Father

Reviewer: Peter from United Kingdom

One thing the database needs to do is be aware that a person may have been born out of wedlock and the mother subsequently marries someone else.

When you insert the details of the stepfather the database automatically makes him the father of the mother's children born out of wedlock when he is not !

Recently, due to me being fairly stupid, I had occasion to ask Heritage to help me with a problem. This occurred as I had opened a family tree which got lost because I'd forgotten I had done so :(
But with Rafael's experience of the site he understood what had happened and with his help and patience, everything is now sorted and I can get on with researching.

Please folks, if you should have to change your email address, don't forget to tell My Heritage!

Website of choise

I joined My Heritage in 2012.
I find the family tree map easy to operate and it is the best I have encountered.
The search section needs getting use to. I know it is a mammoth task but more information must be
downloaded to the website. I have to visit several other sites to complete my research.
The team are very helpful and recently I placed a question on FAQ's, a member replied in a rather rude and patronising manner. Team member Dean wrote to me and apologised on behalf of this person and
went above and beyond the call of duty to be helpful. Very impressed.
I would recommend people to join My Heritage.

Problem resolved in a matter of a few key strokes
13 October 2014
Reviewer: Keith from New South Wales

Being pedantic about dates, I wanted to change my dates from US format to Australian format, i.e., dd/mm/yyyy, I went to the wrong part of Tools (Options) and keyed in what I was the suggested format only to have everyone in my family tree (3000+ names) all with the same date of birth, that same date recorded as their date of christening/baptism, immigration, marriage, death.

I tried resolving the problem by correcting individual records - the dates would not change.

I communicated the problem to Technical Support (Dean) at My Heritage. He suggested one method. Again, I used the wrong part of the Options - I printed the screen, sent it to him. In the interim I had visions of starting all over again, 3000+ names - a long haul.

Dean sent me a screen print of where I should go to resolve the problem - "x" key strokes later, problem resolved and everyone was back to the original information.

I am extremely grateful for the advice received and the fact I can get on with the task of bringing my family history up to date with little fuss as necessary.

In summary, I would recommend My Heritage to a friend.
