Very Disappointed

Very enthusiastic and eager to start research. Very eager to accept my credit card number. Very misleading. When my "case manager" called me back and said, "I was going to be so pleased", I had high hopes. She said I needed to pay additional fees before they could send a report. Also, the report would take longer because it was coming from Canada and had to "pass customs." My hopes were dashed when I found nothing new in the report about the one person I wanted information on. The information came from leads I forwarded to them! I now do not believe the information in my report is accurate and am going to have to start over again.
I really have nothing positive to say.
In summary, I would not recommend Pro Genealogists to a friend.

The whole experience has been extremely upsetting. They will instantly take your money and then leave you waiting for weeks to hear from them. They never contacted me to take my personal information to even begin the research!! No replies to my emails on what was happening. I have yet to hear from them.

Whate a waste of time and money

I have hired these people three times for a single search, After $3000 and 18 months, I do not have a single piece of usable information.
1. My case has been transferred to several different researchers, it seems they can not keep researchers and every time a new one starts, they of course have to start all over again, and you pay for this time.
2. I send them information and then seen to never look at it and just go about their own way.
3. Most of the information they dug up was information I have from Ancestry.com.
This company is a complete waste of time, energy and money, I would not use them ever again.
Is there a rating less than 1? They are prime candidates for having negative numbers in a rating......
In summary, I would not recommend Pro Genealogists to a friend.

While they have access to many records at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, they DO NOT have access to the most important records - the local paper records in Anytown, USA.
Do yourself a favor, and use a genealogist local to the community your ancestor lived in, and make sure you see their resume and credentials. ProGenealogists uses contractors with questionable abilities.
I gave them a simple project, and it was clear their goal was to burn through the retainer as quickly as possible then convince me to spend more to get the paperwork needed to prove their case. Good genealogists do NOT work like that.
In summary, I would not recommend Pro Genealogists to a friend.
