While the website is a rich source of information, there is something very wrong with the so-called "value-added membership" that costs $100/year. And there is something even more wrong with their customer service. I made the donation and one of the "privileges" I was supposed to receive was free registration and material in several of their courses. This simply did not happen. I have contacted them several times at the various email addresses they provide and no one has responded. I have also phoned them. All I got was an answer machine. I left a message, but no one has returned my call. I don't want to think ill of them, and suspect the problem is that since they are mostly run by volunteers, they are overwhelmed. That's putting as positive a spin on it as I can. I'd recommend it as a free service, but would NOT recommend the value added membership.
In summary, I would recommend Jewish Gen to a friend.
