I do use the site frequently and have found it somewhat useful but riddled with errors. That being said, I became a member in an effort to submit edits. Big mistake! I have wasted my time finding & researching numerous historic documents; taking notes of all pertinent info -- document titles, date, location & persons involved, etc.; transcribed those notes into a "suggested edits" request, to then receive a response of "declined". Requesting "help"/support from Admin is a complete waste of time. They allow "Memorial Mgrs" to "own" the Memorials they manage.
In one month alone, I submitted well over 160 "suggested edits" (all well-researched & well-documented). Dozens of Memorial Managers accepted and made the edits, with the exception of just one! Request to Admin for help/assistance (getting that one Memorial Mgr to do her job) proved to be useless with a response of, "...we respect the decision of our Memorial Mgrs...". Further request to Admin, pointing out FACTS & documented PROOF the edits were warranted/justified were met with the same response. Pointing out how one Memorial can affect numerous others through the spouse/parent links (indirectly affecting siblings, nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles/cousins, grandparents, etc.) was also a waste of time. Admin refuses to use or is incapable of using common sense. Admin lacks the ability to trouble-shoot and quality control/quality assurance is secondary to, "...we respect the decision of our Memorial Mgrs...". Not only was I an active member, I was also a Memorial Mgr. Instead of recognizing the effort & timeI I put into researching, documenting and submitting edits to improve FindaGrave, my pleas for assistance wereI dismissed by Admin.
My advice is to use FindaGrave but do not volunteer to help improve the site -- since Admin takes zero responsibility, why waste your time.
In summary, I would recommend Find A Grave to a friend.
