What was advertised as a wonderful new Findmypast has turned out to be anything but. I used to be able to find my way around but now forms are too large records are missing the whole thing is just a jumble . the only people who have gained anything from the new FMP are the likes of Ancestry.

PLEASE FMP go back to the old format before you become part of history as well, you used to have a great site so please see sense and reinstate old format or at least give us access to it.

In summary, I would not recommend FindMyPast.com to a friend.

A once brilliant site is now nothing more than mangled garbage. Meanwhile the firm's owners have turned off their customer phone service, refuse to provide refunds to their thousands of dissatisfied customers, and censor any negative comments online whenever they find them. There are now NO good points to describe for this site.

In summary, I would not recommend FindMyPast.com to a friend.

FMP used to be a easy to use genealogy site.It had some unique features which other sites did not have .Now the management decided to give us a "new improved version".It still has a unique feature.IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!It has become totally unworkable and very clunky.If you spend hours keying away you may finally find something of use.I doubt it though.The customer help is non existant It is clear this all was done with no real testing of the format and it does not seem to be getting any better.Even their later patches and fixes do not work.All customers get in the way of response to comment is a series of platitudes saying it is not their fault we don't know how to use the site.Definately a place to stay away from.If it were possible I would have given it zero.There are NO positives at all.I used to use the UK site because the Australian site has been like this for ages.

In summary, I would not recommend FindMyPast.com to a friend.

As a UK member I can only say the recent change in the Find My Past website has been a disaster, others have used much stronger terms. What was probably the best and most user friendly genealogical website available has in many respects become almost unusable. I am surprised that the Editor gives it an average of 3 stars. I have been a user of the website for many years and am now not renewing my subscription when it expires and I am not alone in this. My advice to anybody contemplating subscribing to the site is to spend some time reading the Feedback Forum on the UK site, which can be found on the dropdown menu under 'Help & Advice', to get a flavour of the frustrations and problems currently being experienced before signing up. To compound the level of dissatisfaction that is prevailing certainly at least in the UK membership, the Customer Service side of FMP seems to have collapsed, emails not answered, telephone lines not answered and management statements being delivered only on Facebook rather than on the FMP website itself so bypassing members who do not subscribe to Facebook. I have been a loyal customer to Find My Past for a number of years. It has been a superior site which delivered an easy to use navigation process and quick and accurate results. NO LONGER! Please do NOT read old reviews of this site and think that is the product you are getting. If you are reading this from abroad please DO NOT think the fabulous British old FMP is what you will be getting. The new site is beyond terrible and is not fit for purpose. Responses from the company state they are working to fix all the issues but WHY would a company launch a sub standard product and THEN decide to work on it? In the meantime, those of us locked into our subscriptions are in complete a melt down of anger and frustration and we are just a group of Family Historians who want a product which delivers results to its previous high standards. DO NOT TAKE OUT A SUBSCRIPTION.

I have been a subscriber to findmypast for ten years and have always found it to be exceptionally user friendly and very easy to navigate. Not so now since the launch of their updated site.

Absolutly rubbish at searching, printing and navigating.

If I could have given it 0 stars I would have done.

Furthermore, having complained three times directly to their support department and requesting a refund against my subscription, they are choosing not to communicatge with me.

In summary, I would not recommend FindMyPast.com to a friend.

Find My Past claims to offer a 14 day free trial. When you search for records, you have to pay for credits to view anything. How can a site offer a "free trial" when you still have to pay? I cancelled my free trial within minutes.

As of April 2014 they have launched a new website with supposedly better features. As a long time user of the old site, and an experienced researcher, I can vouch that the new site is terrible.

It must have been designed by someone who doesn't do serious research, with poor screen layout, reduced content on search results, poor filter options, very slow, and I could go on!

It is now effectively unusable. Just look at their feedback forums to get an idea of what they have done!

Joined Findmypast.ie in good faith, created a family tree on the site, then had serious problems trying to access it, contacted the site to explain about it, was told that I had no Family Tree ever on that site, HA HA LOL,,, If they cant access my Family Tree on there own site, which I painstakingly Created, what chance have I got, its had problems from its inception with a really poor layout, my advice is to stay well clear of it, who needs that kind of grief, its tough enough trying to trace your Ancestors, without being driven insane by poor Technology.

I attempted to sign up for the 14 day trial...they blamed the rejection on AMEX not taking trials, and when I switched to a VISA, I not only lost the 14 free days, but was billed for a month. Still fighting but expect I will lose. ALSO, the only reason I signed up was because they showed the records I wanted, but when I actually got access, oops, they disappeared. A hard lesson learned.

Stick with Ancestry. They actually have people you can speak with if there are issues, which there always are in the beginning. And, a much easier site to navigate.
